Who do you think is RAB? I've heard people say it's Sirius' brother, but that doesn't make any sense.

I think it does make sense, there is a lot of evidence and almost all t he pieces are there. But because everyone thinks that RAB is Regulus, then it isn't, because Rowling wouldn't have everyone guessing the correct thing, that's way too obvious. But it does make sense, to me anyway.

I thought it was Sirius' brother at first, mainly because I had no ideas of my own, but I think it could be Mr. Borgin (Borgin and Burkes). Voldy worked there, that is how he know of other objects to become horcruxes, but Borgin knew something, as he knows lots. But that's just me.

Sure it makes sense. Think about it; in the Order of the Phoenix book, Sirius was showing Harry his family tree. Sirius was somewhat ashamed that his brother, Regulus Black, had joined the Voldemort. He said that Regulus had been obsessed with an obscure item and then disappeared shortly thereafter. The note that Dumbledore and Harry found in the pot in the Half-Blood Prince said that the writer had been out destroying Voldemort’s Horcruxes. (some of them) RAB could easily have been Regulus Black with the “A” standing for a middle name not before mentioned. Regulus was said to have wanted to leave the Death Eaters once he learned what was expected of him, so it’s likely he went out trying to destroy the Horcruxes.
Granted, it could be a completely new character, but the existing hints and suggestions seem to lead you to that conclusion. Rowling has a knack for leading you one direction in her stories but you end up in a different direction entirely. (Leading the reader to think Snape is the one trying to get the Sorcerer’s stone, but it turned out to be innocent little professor Quarrel is a great example of this)

Many people believe that Regulus couldn't havd done the job alone, that there would have needed to be at least one parner helping him. Going with this theory, RAB could mean Regulus and ______, or Regulus, Aberforth, __________.

People like Regulus and Aberforth (Dumbledore's brother) aren't just mentioned in Harry Potter. They always serve some purpose. B could stand for Bellatrix, or it could stand for someone who hasn't been mentioned yet.

RAB could definitely stand for Regulus _______ Black, though. He was a death eater, and he is dead. It is possible that he turned from Voldemort, destroyed at least one horcrux, and was killed for it.

It makes sense because the initials match, he was a Death Eater and therefore had some access to Voldemort and therefore could have taken the Horcrux, and he was killed soon thereafter, supposedly because of deserting - with the locket, perhaps.

RAB is Regelus Black.Although this cannot be confirmed since we don't know his middle name.
