First off we have a rather unique 5 sylable arabic last name Id rather not list but it begins with Am..

Our first's name is Alyson Emily and we call her Aly

My wife and I like short nicknames like Aly so ideally the second would have a similar nickname

I like Abby and Gaby but I still would like a more traditional name rather than giving the baby a nick name as her name.

Any suggestions?

How about Andrea (nickname Annie Am...) or
Yasmin (nickname Yamie Am...)
Vivian (nickname Vivi Am...)
Bethany (nickname Nini Am...)
those are few of my favorite nicknames, and some possible "traditional" names that could go with them.
Congrats on the baby!

Well, my favorite little girls name has always been Crystalyn. The middle name has varied ( ended up with 3 boys). Among the ones I liked were Crystalyn Gabriella, Crystalyn Rachel, and Crystalyn Stacey. There are about 10 nicknames you could get out of that! Hope this helps a little!

I didn't read the other replies so I am sorry if I am repeating for the millionth time.

How about:
Victoria Grace and call her Tori
Danielle Elisabeth and call her Dani
Alexandra Paige and call her Lexi
Caitlyn Marie and call her Cait
Elisabeth Jayne and call her Elli or Ella
Lillian Rose and call her Lilly
Madalyn Faith and call her Maddie
Cassandra Elise and call her Cassie
Samantha Ann and call her Sam
Isabella Jade and call her Bella
Megan Grace and call her Meg
Brianna Faith or Brianne and all her Brie or Bree
Katheryn Brooke and call her Kat (and then you would have Aly Kat) :)
Annabelle Grace and call her her Anna or Belle or Elle (I really like Annabelle I think it is adorable).

Goodluck. I love longer traditional names with nicknames as well. Very cute. :)

How about Beverly Rachel? You could call her Bev. For a more traditional approach, go with names like Elaine and call her lainey.

Here are some good ones.
Katelyn Erica (Katie)
Katherine Tina (Kate or katie)
Victoria Grace (Vicky)
Marilyn Scarlett (Mary)
Jennifer Melissa (Jen or Jenny)
Abigail Marianne (Abby, since you like it!)
Gabrielle Elizabeth (Gaby)

Congrats on your second daughter.

How about Abigail? Then maybe a middle name like Jennifer (J comes to mind). THat way you could call her Abby, or call her AJ (a from abigail and J from Jennifer). My daughter's name JUST so happens to be Abigail. We call her Abby or Abbs. There is a great website:www.kabalarians.com and it uses math and language to apply to the philosophy of life. It has a HUGE database of names and their meanings. GOOD LUCK

What about the name of Lana Aisha, and you can just call her Lana? It's not too long and you don't have to come up with a nick name.
Also, another name combination could be Diana Eva, just call her D or Eva. And the last one I like is Isabella Delilah, and you can call her Izzy.
