DO NOT GET THEM ANYTHING THAT COLLECTS DUST. Get them something that they can consume like cookies, candy, lotion, or wear like great quality house slippers or a shawl that can be draped over the back of a chair and then pulled forward when they feel a chill. A telephone with big buttons and special numbers that you pre programmed along with a list - that you typed in large type and had laminated- telling them which number is which. An ipod with all of their favorite "golden oldies" downloaded to it. A pedicure. That should give you a start.

Hmmm...well I am baking some cookies (I haven't decided what kind yet) and then am putting them in this cool bakery bag that has snow flakes on it that I got from the dollar store. Then I am gonna give those to my elderly neighbors for Christmas. I think that that is a pretty good idea. But, thinking back on it maybe it wouldn't be if the person has some health issues. That is just my idea. Hope you figure out the perfect gift! Merry Christmas!

Since we are in the heart of the cold season, a nice lap blanket would be nice. Many department stores have these decorative fleece blankets that are perfect for their laps and covers those aching knees wonderfully. Along with thinking about the cold (a hard time for the elderly), you will find many knitted hats, shawls/scarves and mittens that they would love to have for the season.

These are things my elderly aunts love - I crochet for them each year and never seem to have too many.

Happy Shopping!

some of the others are right, you time and attention because sadly enough if they are living in an assisted living facility their families may not get them out for the holidays. Spending some quality time with them will make their day. Good luck

Your time and attention is the best gift possible. A short visit, reading to them, talking awhile. That's what they need and don't get.
