Iran is a terrorist state that has proclaimed that it wishes to destroy Israel. Nuclear weapons would give them the opportunity to do so, heaven forfend.
If Israel does indeed have a nuclear capability, it will use it only as a last resort, after a first strike by some other power.
Iran is the biggest threat to the West today, and their military capability must be curbed by the West.
In addition, individual terrorists must be eliminated--if necessary by engaging them and killing them.
There can be no rational argument against this two-pronged approach.
You have it backwards about the UN resolutions. Israel abides by all of them, and the Arabs, including Hisb'Allah, formally agree to them and then violate them all.
As we know, the Israelis pulled out totally from Gaza in the summer of 2005. The optimistic intention and hope was that the Palestinians would build a self-sustaining society in Gaza, based on the innovative and profitable hothouses left by the Israelis.
Instead of this, the Hamas and other Muslim terrorist groups immediately began daily bombardment of Israel with Qassam missiles, targeting the innocent Israeli civilian population.
Now these terrorists have been "successful" and killed Israelis. Then they announced a ceasefire, which Israel is observing while the Gazans continue to fire missiles at Israel.
Clearly, the Israel Defense Forces have the capability of flattening Beit Hanoun, the town from which the Hamas terrorists have launched hundreds of missiles.
Why does Israel not flatten this part of Gaza to stop the murderous attacks? What other military action should Israel take to defend its citizens?

Because Israel is not trying to wipe out the entire population of it's antagonists, as opposed to the antagonists, who have made it clear they want Israel to undergo total genocide... a GOOD reason for Israel to be a major nuclear power.
The only ethnic cleansing is happening in the antagonist’s countries, by the antagonists. The “Palestinians” originally attacked Israel, and lost. The Palestinians have made it clear they will turn Israel into a mass grave yard if given any chance. Anti-Semites need a serious mental enema.

Can you say lobbyists? Israel financially backs many lobbying firms under the guise of being a non-partisan entity. They contribute more monies to political campaigns then their neighbors and enemies and therefore they receive the most political favoritism. I've always noticed the media's pro-Israeli stance and never understood what makes them so special, echoing the reasons you've stated, then the lobbying issue was reported on and it all made sense. I ask the other readers--Is there a more relevant reason why?
