I had it done a year or so ago.. there was just a pinch and really that's all. Nose didn't turn colors or anything.. you just have to make sure you keep it clean, especially when it's healing.
Oh, and I also recommend getting it pierced with a stud. If you get it pierced with a ring first, it might not be done in the right spot and a stud might not go in there after it's healed.

Purple nose? Never heard of someone having a purple nose from a piercing! I got mine pierced and just around the area that was pierced was red for a few days..that's all. Just make sure you go to a reputable place to get it done- some place that knows what they're doing, is extremely sanitary, and follow instructions for aftercare. It's really no problem! It hurts like the devil for about two seconds, then it's fine. It is pretty sore while it heals, but nothing to write home about :o)

Your nose is going to swell for awhile regardless of how you have it done.
The safest way is to research your local piercers, I am not talking the girls at the mall with piercing gun. You will want a proper establishment.
The best way to have it done is hollow needle, with a gun you run the risk of permanently damaging the cartilage in your nose. Check the qualifications of your piercer, make sure they open a new needle before they pierce, make sure the establishment is clean.
Follow all the cleaning and care instructions, at first cleansing may be uncomfortable as well as rotating the piecing but it needs to be done.
Good luck, remember that piercing is a form of body modification, and although a piercing can be removed, the risk of scarring and infection increases dramatically when it is not done properly.

Hey Elmo,
I just got mine pierced about 2 weekends ago, and I really like it! Make sure you go to a place that is exrtremelyyy clean, and ask around about the place. When I had it done, they put a small amount of numbing gel on the spot first, then did it. It pinched a little bit. but its carilage so it didnt hurt as much as a tongue would. They gave me this spray stuff to clean it with, called H2Ocean and if i use it regulerly, its fine.
Best wishes!

mine is pierced, it hurt worse than the tattoo i got that took 4 hours! my mistake was that I concentrated on the area when the piercing was happening. think about some other part of your body getting hurt instead, it sounds dumb but it works. get it on your left! left represents a lady and the right represents a prostitute!!!
just take care of it, don't touch it with dirty hands and get some wound wash to clean the inside and outside. make sure you leave your original jewlery in for about 3 months so it can heal.
good luck!

Nothing of this sort will happen. It is just superficial piercing of the skin. There is no blood discharge etc. Any villae goldsmith can do it. If you want to play safe ensure that the needle used for piercing is disinfected before use.

You want it to look cute now but in 40 years or so it will not look cute at all. Have you ever seen a old lady will a nose ring? GROSS and you cant just "take it out" because then you will have a hole in your nose. My advice get a stick on.

One thing these scientist would love to reproduce is skin. Don't get an earring in your nose because it will only make you look worse. In my opinion, women with earrings in their nose remind me of the Freaks that played in Batman 2.
