My ipod which is a 4th generation is frozen and before it completely froze it would skip songs on its own.I heard this happening to alot of ipods and so since its almost Christmas my dad said that I could either get a Zoom or another Ipod and I dont know what I should do since the skipping and freezing has happened to alot of new ipods too. So I'd be really happy if someone could help me.

same thing happened to my ipod, your battery is dead. not the battery that you charge on the wall or something, the lifetime battery. you can send it to apple or something and i think the charge for a new battery is about 80$ and then 40$ for the repair.. something like that.

Some users that are using "Sveta" to transfer files to their Ipod found that the files would not play properly ( skips over them).
Use ITUNES instead, and reload the files.

See the frozen IPOD, and dead battery links below.

Try a soft reset. Any iPod owner should know the old Menu+center button trick. Press these together for a few seconds to perform a soft reboot, which will force the iPod to start anew. Don't worry about your music or data--as long as the iPod reboots, it will be safe.

It's a Zune, not Zoom and don't buy that over an iPod unless you are a fan of knock offs. The zune is still unproven and doesn't have the technology that iPod pioneered. Get a new iPod and stay using iTunes. Zune does not support iTunes.
