My lights have been out since last Thursday, and the temps have not gotten above freezing generally speaking. Is it ok to eat the food in my fridge?

If it's been that cold, most of your food is probably still okay. Give it a sniff, just in case. Also, when your power comes back, check your freezer stuff -- anything that's totally thawed should be used ASAP or thrown away.

Run, do not walk, to your fridge and move all the contents outdoors. By now the food inside has probably been at room temp for a while. If it's freezing outdoors, move your perishables where they will be out of reach of animals but accessible to you. And before you eat any of those perishables, do a sniff test. If you had any milk in there, it may have gone bad.
