First off, whats the biggest difference between the two?
Which will run faster for gaming, and video/audio editing?
Is there a difference between the front side buses?
If there is no difference between Intel and AMD, why does amd have 2000 and Intel has 1333? From what I've found...
Which is most reliable? I know AMD usually runs hotter, but, is it better?
Does the processor matter when getting games, as in, Intel vs Amd? Or do I just have to have higher then posted? (Cause on games it says Intel Pentium as the processor, I rarely see AMD on the games I get...)
Which is better?
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz (Dual Core) 1066FSB
or
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ Dual Core (2000FSB) 64bit CPU
Cause I can get either for about the same price.

I know Microsoft isnt the only operating system, theres apple, Linux, Unix...but, Microsoft is the best one, in my opinion. I tried apple and hated it, I saw Linux but never used it, and Unix I know nothing about. But, Ive had intel all my life, and the one AMD I had, had an overheating problem. Which was stupid cause it would randomly shutdown.
Ive heard alot about amd and intel, and from what people say AMD is better all around...but then again, people say Intel is better all around. Im stuck in the middle. I dont know. I have a p4 2.8 right now...and I am building a computer. I need to make the choice before I build it cause its the most important part. Intel, or AMD...then everything else is easy.

Price! I switched to using AMD processors long ago for this reason alone! I have yet to see a failure in ANY AMD chip in the 6 years I have been using AMD! As far as speed is concerned, you will find many people and many arguments about which is faster but considering you are talking in nanoseconds, I would like to see someone who could detect the difference in operating speeds by 2 identically configured PCs with different chips!

Come on people, why answer if you don't have good info? Waste of time.
Look, the truth of the matter is, both are processors, both have speed ratings, and both have different power consumption with different models of processors (power in turn generates heat because it has to go somewhere).
You can often find these thermal ratings, and as long as you get a heatsink/fan or other cooling solution that can handle that load (or better), and some good thermal compound (Arctic Silver 5 is among the most popular and best out there), you won't have overheating problems.
As far as speed, AMD has on-chip memory controller, which helps it have huge gains when working with memory (read about this somewhere else, as I don't want to waste my time on it!).
Intel and AMD both compete, and have models that are just about in-line with one another. AMD has been typically cheaper. The 64 bit model can't thrive yet because most people are running 32-bit windows, and 32-bit games/applications. The same is true with dual/quad cores. These must have multi-processor support to really get all of the power out of them, otherwise they run like a single processor at half the speed.
On another note, AMD uses ratings on most of it's processors because they make up for their lower Ghz ratings with efficiency.
3500+ is basically like an intel 3.5Ghz
You need to research this stuff some if you want to know more..Memory, video card, and even a great sound card are very important for gaming, as well as using fast hard drives (or raid)!
Good luck. You'd be better off finding someone who knows what they're doing...though, or perhaps buy a prebuilt system.

Between the two you mentioned, the Intel is just slightly better, but not a whole lot. If you stepped up to the E6600 you would see a noticeable gain in performance, but it is a little more. Now to your specific questions.
The difference is in architecture, they are built in two different ways.
As for which one will run faster, well as of right now in general the Core 2 Duos are faster, but as I said in your comparison they are about equal since that model you looked at happens to be the slowest of the Core 2 Duos.
The difference in FSB is that AMD no longer uses the traditional FSB, it uses the HyperTransport system. I won't go into great detail since that is a pretty involved subject, but you can read more about it here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertransport
As for reliability, about the same to be honest, and of course as mentioned before with adequate cooling you should not have any overheating problems with either.
As for games, no the processor doesn't matter, they usually just quote Intel because it is the more common processor, but either will work.
Lastly, if you are interested in overclocking the Intel overclocks much better out of the two models you mentioned. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.

The E7400 is a miles more advantageous suited CPU than the 6000+. although, it is also more advantageous expensive. i ought to ignore about AMD twin cores. in case you opt for a funds construct, the Intel E5200 is the perfect decision. It costs 70$ and performs further to AMD's perfect twin center, the 7750 Kuma x2. although the Kuma is an section quad center with 2 cores disabled, so that is a lot less power helpful than the E5200. you could get AMD twin cores interior the 50-60$ variety, yet i ought to assert pay the ten-15$ more advantageous for a more advantageous effective CPU and save interior the lengthy run on power performance. i ought to also ignore about the E7000 sequence. for a similar cost because the E7400 you should purchase the Phenom II x3 710. that is a no brainer. The 710 is a better performer and has an more advantageous center.

I have an AMD Turion64 in my laptop. I have noticed NO difference between it and Intell.
You have to remember, just like Microsoft is NOT the only operating system out there, Intell is NOT the only processor.
