i had a 7lb baby three weeks ago and had two stitches. the bleeding has stopped. I am still sore down there though. I was hoping to have sex in a few weeks but afraid i may still be too sore. when do you usually stop feeling sore and i was also afraid that I may be too loose for sex. I have been doing my kegal excercises but how soon should you start to feel tighter again. we are waiting the full six weeks but even then I want to make sure we enjoy it like we used to. any help?

If you only had 2 sutures, you should be just fine. I'm a nurse, and midwife. There's really no reason to wait the full six weeks. Truly, hardly any couples do. You should be about ready for your 6 week exam, talk to your doc about how sore you are, and trust me, you're not going to be "loose". The vagina is spongy, and goes back right after birth. You should be as tight now, as you were prior to pregnancy. ~~~

You had a 7lb baby there are peolple who have 10 & 12lb babies and they enjoy sex just fine. That's what it was made for. If you want to enjoy sex, stop worrying about it and let it happen. If you want to think about something that stretches the vagina, think about all the people that abuse it on purpose, prostitutes, beastiality freaks etc... They can stop that and find a nice guy and have perfectly normal sex.

Everyone is different, but you should be feeling pretty well by now. You may want to have it checked by the doctor to make sure you don't have a hint of infection or something. You might be a bit sore, but it should be doing pretty well by this time.

Best Wishes,

Sue
