Portability, accessibility and affordability.
1) Portability - being able to make a call anywhere you want.
2) Accessibility - being able to receive calls anywhere you want.
3) Affordability - cheaper and better long distance plans than LAN phones.
It's also the trend and sexy to have a cell phone. It's starting to be a fashion statement with the razors and chocolate phones. Also with the invention of PDA and pocket pc's, people can access the internet, send/receive e-mails and play games anywhere you want as well.
