I was a kid during this decade; I remember that the other kids knew a dance called "The Bus Stop"; you can google it and perhaps you will find the steps.

Also..."The Bump!" I had to come back here and edit this post when I read someone's mention of it in another question and couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it. That was huge. Google that too; it's easy to do, btw.

Another thing is that you might like to rent "Saturday Night Fever" and watch that (if you are old enough and/or your parents will allow it; there's some raunchy content and I remember having a heck of a time getting my mother to allow me to go see it at age 15). Those dances were the hugest ones of the seventies.

There were some other 70's dance movies you might like to watch (if you're really interested) as well, but I am not much of a movie watcher; ask one of those film geeks who work in movie stores to recommend you something good.

WWD is on the right track; don't listen to the others. Disco came in during the late 70's. For 1970, think hippies, Motown and go-go dancing. "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," which debuted in January of 1968, was at its peak in 1970. Remember that the Viet Nam war was still raging and Woodstock was just the summer before (in 1969).

Until the hustle craze towards the end of the decade, the dances of the late 60's were still hanging on.
