Will much of human kind ever move past using hatred, not just in racism, as the basis for their beliefs? It seems too often that we convict people suspected of bad acts because of their prior bad acts, or just over acts of a dubious moral nature inwhich they were involved. We often assume guilt by history, true or not, not by relevant evidence. Why? How can this amoral, at least, way of thinking bother so few, as it seems, people?

I apologize for any grammatical mistakes. But I think my intention is clear.

Sad as it is, I see by some of your answers that people will never move 'past it' until they begin taking responsibility for their own actions. It is much easier to blame your parents, sisters, brothers, friends etc. about your own behavior good or bad, because we have truly not grown up!
I was raised in a strictly religious family and yet I realized early on that there were certain people you never spoke to or spoke about. I can only speak of what I have seen and what I myself has experienced to tell you that unless we make everyone a priority instead of ourselves, we may not get there!
Each one of us has to make a conscious decision to change the way we truly act and behave around and to others. I mean for the better! Sadly, because of who I am, and because there a lot of people in the world just like me, we are alone in this. It really does you no good to talk about it and decide to do it and never follow through. That poorly dressed girl you go to school with and call nasty names! Or the guy that hangs out at the local liqueur store that looked as if he hasn't showered in weeks? Or how about the girl that dresses to the 'T' every moment that you make fun of because you believe her to be a snob?
There are many forms of racism that never involve skin color! I don't care what you did before you met me as long as you never physically harmed another person or a child! These are things I can get over but will take time with proof from you! There is very little I can not forgive! But, alas, like I said there are very few people like me! People I don't know have my respect until they don't! This is something I feel can only strengthen the character of anyone who cares to attempt it!
I am not saying I would open my door to every person I meet but when I trust you and you have proven that no harm will come to me and my own, you are welcome!
Hope this Helps
Good Luck
Blessed Be

I understand,
But it is not exactly bad thinking, After some one gets out of prison they go on parole, (to be watched). After a sex crime, (register as a sex offender). Once you violate society trust, it means you are not trusted, this is to protect us as a society.
Yes, we usually assume guilt -- but the only people that are mad about that is the people that are guilty. If you get blamed for some thing, you really should have been at home on yahoo answers or watching tv.

I don't think so. Humans are social animals, we need to belong to a group. Hatred is one way - quick and easy - of bonding with "us" as opposed to "them"

We are getting better, slowly but surely. It is better to be alive now than at any time in the past.
