I'm writing an essay with this topic. I'm focusing on how power corrupted him, and how power corrupt most human beings. If you can help out with examples from the text (I may have overlooked some that would make a very good point) I would really appreciate it.

He kills Banquo--his best friend--because one of the prophecies was "banquo shall not be king but shall beget kings."

He harms Macduff's family because of the prophecy "Beware Macduff...Beware Macduff." which later hurts him because Macduff kills him.

It's an interesting theme for an essay.

You'll find DOZENS of good ideas in the text having to do with the character of Macbeth, I'm sure. But...how about spicing up the essay by pointing out that Banquo is also susceptible to the corrupting influence of power, and that weakness costs him his life?

I'm referring to Banquo's 10-line soliloquy at the top of Act I, scene iii. Basically, he says: "Hey, if the witches were right about YOU, Macbeth, then I had better stick around to get what's coming to ME!"

If you're trying to prove the hypothesis that Macbeth has within him strengths and weaknesses of character that are common to all men, this might be a neat way to demonstrate it.
