It won't go any faster with better tires, but they will help you get better starts and take corners better.
They don't make em' like they used to... I can't believe that turd was shaking at only 136MPH.
Anyhow, if you want to go faster get some engine upgrades. If your Cobalt is the supercharged one, upgrade the turbine and put an intercooler on it, as well as a more efficient intake filter and a new exhaust system.
If it is the N/A version (non supercharged or naturally aspirated) then get a turbo kit for it. That will make it fly.

well, for a stock car, the cobalt is pretty fast, but like all cars, it has it's limits!! Your car is equipped with an rev/speed limiter, so you need to first find out if you have "topped" out... Topped means if you have reached the cars maximum speed Torrence, therefore not letting the car go any faster for safety reasons. If the car was shaking, that means that the stock suspension has reached a performance limit... If you would like to go faster without shaking, upgrade the suspension, then you will see a big difference in the top speed and general ride.... good luck..

The Cobalt is a quite good decision - the Ecotec engine is sweet, and the Cobalt is outfitted on a shown platform. like a number of different posts suggested - only be confident the ability steerage remember replaced into performed (there is an difficulty with the digital help motor preventing, and they have an elementary a lot less-than-one-hour restoration).

136! Sweet, man! Chevy says the top speed is 145, but you got pretty close. You'll need more horsepower to keep accelerating past 145, because at that point, all the available horsepower is being used to maintain 145. If you're serious, I would recommend mounting some bars on the frame to improve structural rigidity. Also, try using higher octane to boost you engine (if Chevy recommends higher octane, if not, then you should be good with the norm). If you also want to compete, check for an amateur drag race at the nearest raceway. Good luck!

U want be able to blow it up...the computer chip prevents it from going that far...the only thing you will accomplish by seeing how fast it will go before it blows up is wrecking it and probley killing your self...it will probley max at 140 - 150...but don't try it...that car is not made for that kind of speed...idk why u would want to max a car like that out...if u want to get speed and kill your self get one on the new camaro's coming out or the mustang cobra...get the computer chip fixed where it want restick the speed and it will prob max around 190 -200...maby even more idk just depends on how far the transmission will let it go...well any way hope that helped and try not to kill your self.

It probally wont blow up at a given speed because the car has a rev limiter. tires wont male it go faster for top speed but it will do better in the corners and take off

Tires don't make a car faster in the long run, only at take off. If its a supercharged SS then 150 would ne no prob.
