YEA, I know what you mean, you sorta have mixed feelings about it , It's nice they are SOOOOOO Polite but you feel like saying Hey, what do you mean MA'AM.??? But that usually embarasses them , so I sometimes just smile and say thank-you SIR! Or better yet, Thank-you laddie, or thank-you my my aren't you quite the young man.

Oh well, life goes on, I always say I'd rather get older than the alternative. Think about it.

Thanks for the question.

Most people feel just as awkward calling people sir or ma'am as the person being called it.

When you work some place, you're often told to call everybody a sir or ma'am out of respect.

It makes many people feel uncomfy, but businesses do it just to maintain professionality.
