Start by talking with some folks in that field. There are car/audio places all around. Ask them about the business, what they like/don't like. Get a feel for if they just do it for fun or if they do really well (word it a little differently).

This should give you some more ideas as to whether to continue on it as a hobby or whether to try it full time. You might also see about starting at one of those places, just for the experience and exposure to the business environment.

As a business owner (if you wanted to go that route in your career change), you'll want to be aware of all the other "parts" of running a business.

Also, ask yourself if the career change doesn't work, would you be able to go back to the contractor position.

Weigh these items and I think you'll have an answer. Good luck!

You should persue your hobby as a caraeer with one condition which is if yoiu can earn enough money to support your living. For the start, you might earn less but as the years gone by usually you earn more.

You also need to look into the future as well and see where you might be at after 5 or 10 years (this is very hard). I believe car audio and video market will increase in the future.

' Pursue '. I think you're doing really fine. I'd think about it if I were you. Ex army, you'd think that'd instill discipline but ... I don't know about the Army these days. It's more the individual. Maybe always has been. Try doing it on the side a little and see where it goes. Being jobless, on the street, is no fun. I'm not saying you. But it happens. Just remember; Success is never final, failure, never fatal. It's courage, that counts.

I would try to do your hobby on the side - if you love it that much - it shouldn't be a problem - once you get better at it - the money might be there. Don't leave a sure thing unless you have your job lined up.

If I were you I'd save alot of back-up money first for a few years, then pursue, my "hobby". And be sure to be conservative with my money. If it works out with your "hobby job" then keep on going. but if it doesn't go as you planned get a new job that is like your old one.
