Error Message:
STOP: 0x0000009C (parameter, parameter, parameter, parameter) MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
Explanation:
This is a Windows 2000 Executive character-mode STOP message.
User Action:
If this is the first time you have booted after installing new hardware, remove the hardware and boot again. Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the hardware and its drivers are compatible with Windows 2000. For information about the hardware, contact the supplier. If you are installing Windows 2000 for the first time, check the Windows 2000 system requirements, including the amount of RAM and disk space required to load the operating system. Also, check the Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the system can run Windows 2000. If Windows 2000 is loaded and no new hardware has been installed, reboot with recovery options set to create a dump file. If the message continues to appear, select the Last Known Good option when you reboot. If there is no Last Known Good configuration, try using the Emergency Repair Disk. If you do not have an Emergency Repair Disk, contact your technical support group.

Nice thing about those codes is you can put the first part into google and find it. I googled it and this is what I found. "The error code 0x0000009C is a hardware related error code, what ever you did to your hard drive has caused the CPU to think it has a bad hard drive. Hopefully doing a windows OS repair with the windows CD will fix this."
Try that. Your issue should be resolved. Google it if you must you may find more info. I"m a technician and google is one of my best friends when it comes to those codes.

Sounds like a problem with your hardware, since that is what the code means. Try to run a diagnostic CD for testing memory, board or processor. Dell always come with one but you can make one yourself on another PC with www.ultimatebootcd.com or let a technician look at it for you.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

would help if you'd given the full hex error code, not just "0x0000009c (0x00000000,0xf7914050,0xb2000... ..." as in "..." means nothing in machine code ...
anyway, copy and paste the full error code to a google search.
