Aphrodite

Aphrodite is the goddess of love, desire and beauty. In addition to her natural gifts she has a magical girdle that compels anyone she wishes to desire her. There are two accounts of her birth.

One says she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione.

The other goes back to when Cronus castrated Uranus and tossed his severed genitals into the sea. Aphrodite then arose from the sea foam on a giant scallop and walked to shore in Cyprus.

She is the wife of Hephaestus. The myrtle is her tree. The dove, the swan, and the sparrow her birds

Gaea - was the Earth goddess. She was mother to the titans. So basically she was Zeus great grandmother. In Greek mythology, she created the Universe and gave birth to both the first race of gods (the Titans) and the first humans. Gaea, or Mother Earth, was the great goddess of the early Greeks. She represents the Earth and is worshipped as the universal mother.

My favourite character of Greek Mythology would have to be Cassandra. She was the daughter of Hecuba (and sister-in-law of Helen) and was a princess of Troy. Apollo fell in love with her and granted her the gift of foresight. When she did not reciprocate his love, he cursed her in that no one would ever believe her predictions. Her family believed her to be mad and kept her locked up because of it.
Because of this she foresaw the downfall of Troy, including the deaths of her father and brothers, and warned her family and the citizens of Troy but they would not believe her and so she is powerless to stop the events from occuring. After the mayhem she seeks refuge in a temple of Athena, where she is raped by Ajax. Finally she is sent to Greece with Agamemnon as his concubine and upon their arrival he is killed by his wife, Clytemnestra, and her lover Aegisthus.

My drama class performed a few greek plays this year and I auditioned to be Cassandra but I didn't get the part because I'm a boy. I played Cadmus instead.

i would have to say that would be Hecate. She is the overall powerful queen of Goddesses and the oldest one also. She is powerful through Her sorcery, and through witchcraft.when She comes to u in a dream or through vision,Her torch shines so bright like a beacon in the night.i also like Her for Her role when She walked through the crossroads and the towns ppl would celebrate Her on the night SHe would come.i just like Her in so many ways that it is hard to say of all the things that i like about Her.
Bright Blessings,
The Morrigan)O(

Since I'm from Birmingham my favorite god isn't Greek but Roman - Vulcan - the god of fire and iron. His Greek counterpart is Hephaestus.

I always liked Hephaestus blacksmith of the gods, who made all the cool thing that they used. And even as deforformed he was it was kind heart that won Aphrodite to be his wife.
