3 weeks ago today, I emailed a great cover letter and my resume to a perspective employer. The following week I was called to come in that day for an interview with the owner of the company. The following day I sent a thank you letter expressing my interest in the position. The following week (last week) I made a call to follow up and asked the receptionist to please let the owner know I called. She mentioned that he is still interviewing. No problem. So now we are at week 3 to the day, but only 2 weeks since my actual interview. I want to keep calling each week until hopefully, they call me in for the 2nd interview of a 3 interview process. I have not received any correspondance or calls yet from the company. I have no idea where I stand or if I am still being considered as a candidate. I really want this job. Please advise. Thank you!

Your mistake is going thru the receptionist phone call...she tells everyone the same thing.
U need to go back to the job and speak directly to the boss of your great interest in this job and give him a reference list of respectable people he can call.

By your description it sounds as if you did all the proper actions for a really good application and interview process. However each try is an experience and hopefully you get better each time. I see people come and go with outstanding credentials, only to be detracted by with inappropriate jewelery or visible tattoos, horrible hair and other grooming mistakes. Afterall, the company has an image and they may have a problem with your appearance. Sit outside and watch employees go in and out---should give you an idea of dress codes or requirements. DO NOT CALL AGAIN--despite your anxiety about this job, you can be pesty and that is not good. Sometimes the process has to be followed even though the company has their pick already made---it's who you know for some people. If you are successful, I wish you the best of luck.

I say give one more call next week and wait for them. You sent them a thank you note and a follow up call. I think one more call and you should wait for them. The more you call the more you look like a pest. The less likely they are going to call you. No matter the amount of interest you show it is not going to change their mind if they have already found (in their mind) a better qualified candidate for the position.

Forget it, they already have someone else, Remenber it is an Employers market. They will only show interest as long as it is in their favour. As soon as they get what they want, everthing else is put aside. Keep pluggging away. Your stats will have to be increased, for every twenty applications, look for one positive feedback. Good luck.
