...and runs away without saying a word, after a guy has walked over to her and simply says "hello" to her? I have seen young women do this to guys all of the time (and I mean to normal looking guys who act civilized, not just to the unhygienic or the misbehaving) in almost every situation that I can think of (I.E.: at the library, at work, at church, at the bus stop, the school hallway in-between classes, at the mall, the dance club, etc.), and I have been literally wondering all of my life what is it that makes some people believe that making ugly & strange faces at someone and running away like your hair is on fire is ever an appropriate response to someone of the opposite gender who is simply giving you a standard greeting? Obviously, she probably suspects that the guy might be thinking of "hitting" on her, and obviously she is acting immature, but I was hoping for something more than the standard superficial answer. This is not an attempt to belittle women. I really am curious.

Unfortunately, some girls think they are "better" than the guy approaching.
It's sad because it takes a lot of guts to approach girls.
Sometimes, though, girls who are attractive seem to only attract men who look at them as a pretty girl and thats all. I just broke off my engagement because thats all he saw me for.
We just get tired of being a "sex object" and not anything deeper....
Just some thoughts.

I'm not really sure because i am just 13. That does sound weird. They probably do think that the guy is trying to hit on her. That really isnt appropriate although there are countless guys who try to do that and the women has no way of knowing that the man is civilized.

I like your question, and I'll be checking the answers because I'm curious as to what other females will answer.

I have my own question along the same lines...
"What were those girls mothers thinking when they taught their daughters manners?"

Not that girls can't stand up for themselves and/or reject suitors they are not interested in, but there are many ways to do that without being rude and hurtful.
