Sandy soil is porous and pervious. Hence it can absorb a lot of water. But its problem is draining, that is, it cannot retain the water it absorbs. Particularly in hot season, the water tends to dry up quickly. For cultivation purpose, it should be mixed with clay, manure etc in suitable proportion.
