I have a betta and two panda cories in a tank. I have some algae wafers for the cories and pellets for the betta. The problem is that the betta ALWAYS ends up eating both his pellets and the wafer and Im afraid that the cories aren't getting enough food. How should I remedy this?

cories don't necessarily go for algae wafers... get them sinking shrimp pellets.

I've had a similar problem as well, but i feed my betta 3 betta pellets 2 times a day, and i only feed my baby kuhli loaches 1 algae tablet per day, usually at dusk, my betta would often nip at the algae tablets, but would spit them out later..My suggestion would be to place the wafers under a plant or rocks or some place the betta is less likely to find it, or see it. Since the cories will be able to sniff out the food, this should'nt pose any problems, Good luck.

Since bettas primarily find food visually and catfish via sense of smell, feed the betta flakes during the day and the cories sinking pellets at night (a couple of hours after the tank has been in the dark to completely eliminate the possibility of the betta sighting the food). In this way the cories will always get their fair share.

There is no need to worry, your pandas will manage to find things to eat. There will always be scraps of food that make it to the bottom of the tank and will get stuck in whatever you have (gravel, sand, marbles, etc.) They will scavange for these and eat these. Pandas also eat algae. Also fish can go days without food so do not worry. I am sure that they will get some food within 4 days.

I think that you might want to separate your fish...you may not want To buy a smaller tank for the Betta

I WOULDNT WORRY YOUR CORIES ARE BOTTOM FEEDERS AND THEY WILL EAT PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING ON THE BOTTOM INCLUDING ANY ALGAE THAT GROWS OR ANYTHING THAT FALLS TO THE BOTTOM.
