I have Verizon DSL as my ISP. The installation package came with a wireless router. I'm not using the wireless with my (this) computer ... I use a hard wired Ethernet cord. I want to add another computer to the router using a wire (the router can accomodate 4 wired computers and unlimited wireless). My question is, after I connect the Ethernet wire to the other computer, do I have to run the Verizon installation CD, or will the computer recognize the service and do an automatic install. I'm running Windows XP Home on both computers and they're both fast Pentium 4 machines. No asinine answers just to get the points!

Once you are already connected to the internet through the router with the first computer the answer is no on the second one. Just plug the second computer into the router and you should be all set.

If the router is configured properly, you should not have to do anything. Internet Routers by nature provide the PC's with all the information they need to get on the internet.

Just make sure the new PC you connect to it is set to "Obtain Automatically"

it will recognise new hardware but also have to have the disk handly just incase it needs to install drives for your router. i hav 3 pc's with amd processors. 1 being a laptop. i just went wireless and found my pc's react faster to wireless than to the hardwire hook up. in your package there should have been an usb connector or either a wireless card.for your second pc. that is for wireless use. but if your pc's are close enough to run ethernet you can choose to do that. when i hooked my first 2 desktops up with ethernet, i had to install drivers for the router on the 2nd pc.....so keep that disk just incase you need to use it to get your drivers. goodluck!

It should be automatic detect after you have installed it on one computer. Your login ID/password should already be saved on your router and anything connected should autodetect.
