One famous Mexican superstiotion is La LLorna (The Crying Woman)
It has many diffrent origin. This is the most used form:
It's about a girl that got with a man who disliked her children. While she was very poor and he was rich. So she killed her children (in most tales, she drowned them in a river). After she told the man about that he was disgusted and left her. Shortly after that she killed herself. It is said she roams the southwest crying, lokking for her children. She says "Donde Esta Mi Hijos (Where are my children?). She wears all white and her eyes are red like the devil. And if your alone in the middle of the night and a woman comes up to you crying and askes you "Donde esta mi hijos?" and you look in her eyes, you die. So if you ever see that RUN and pray she doesn't catch up with you.

There's also the chupacabra and alot more mexican tales.

I have a huge superstition. I'm German however and the reason behind this one is obvious. We never celebrate anything before the actual date. Like if your birthday is on Monday, a lot of people would have the party the weekend prior, but that is a no no with us. Baby Showers are a HUGE no no. What if you celebrate your birthday Saturday night and you died in an accident Sunday. Bad ju-ju.
