"Once it's written down it's copywrited" is false. One cheap why to copywrite something is to mail it to yourself and leave it sealed. The date on the stamp that the postoffice gives will prove that you had it at a certain date. You could go online and get it published in one of those books that have a million poems in them, but they are a rip off. I did it. I had to purchase my own book. What you could do it go to a book store and look on the inside cover of a poetry book and contact one of the publishers.

Why are you going to do it for him?

Poet's Market is the best place to find magazines that publish poetry. A book publisher will not be interested until several magazines have published his work.

once its written down its copyrighted, and then try asking a publisher.

if it has a date of creation, like a MS word document, then it is copyrighted.
