what do you do to keep your little ones away from the christmas tree?

my son is three and my daughter is 10 months. my son is being alright when i ask him to leave alone he does. but my daughter is another story. pulling the lights off and everything i dont want her to get hurt or burnt from the lights or anything all ordements are a little higher up i may just move the lights up too we will see

They have gates that you can purchase. I just bought a little tree and had it on a table though.

there are several ways to handle this situation- the one big one being don't put up a tree at all- but if you must -- you can put everything out of her reach(for this year, things will have to go up higher every year that she grows) or you could teach her that indulging in the flesh is not always appealing-- treat it like a hot thing--- would you let her grab a burning log? no most people would use a switch or something to swat at the child's hand to give a little sting( not a beating and not breaking a limb) this teaches the child that it is not a pleasant feeling to touch the burning log(or tree). but the choice is always ours to make- allow them to indulge and deal with the consequences- or teach them to control their impulses>

Electric fence. Just kidding, they make big gates that stand on their own. They fold up for storage. Worked for a while.
Also buy cheap ornaments for the bottom of the tree, ones you don't mind being broken and keep the good ones up high.
I always secure the tree with string to the wall to make sure it can't fall.

how old are they?
say leave that alone it is very fradle or if they are young
hide the presents.if that does not work next time wait 3 or 4
days before christmas to put up the tree.
