Apart from any of the history books published about WW1, have you tried the Ministry of Defence? After 88 years minimum, I doubt it will still be classified. Also the Public Record Office may be able to help. Finally, try contacting the regiment itself. With Defence cuts, it's probably down to half a platoon, but they may still have records.

One place I would look it the common wealth war graves commission web site you can search for other people in the regiment who got killed and find where they are buried it then often goes on to tell you a litle about the action
