My computer will turn on and after i try to get into a program or something it freezes up and then has one long continuos beep until i shut it off. i have tried a complete system restore and re installed everything but it is still freezing up

buy a can of air unplug your pc and open it up blow it out paying careful attention to any and all fans something is heating up it may be your video card or processor

your processor is overheating , buy a new cpu, heatsink fan combo , but you have to know which socket your cpu is , the most common is either socket 478, or socket 939 , antec makes an excellant one AQ3 which will work for both those sockets , for about $30 at staples .

possible overheat or RAM failure take it in for a quote in an electronic repair shop. I can recomend someone for you ? depending on where your from. could also be a faulty mainboard..
