OK this girl is having a birthday party and I'm invited. The place is pretty much a big dance floor with chairs and tables around it. The music that will be played is mostly hip hop and that Spanish dance music. Problem is that I'm just not a dancer, I never was, but I wanna change that, but I cant. I'm not shy or anything, I'm actually one of the most outgoing of the group. I just wanna know how to grind without looking stupid or feeling embarrassed/stupid. The girl I like will be there and most of my friends, and they never seen be dance before. I don't wanna sit out because I'm too embarrassed to dance.

Firstly, guys should keep their hands BELOW a 45 degree angle unless they are trying to be funny. Don't move your feet too much either. AND ABSOLUTELY NO RUSSIAN DANCING OR BREAKDANCING! (unless, as said above, you are trying to be funny)
grinding means moving your hips ALOT! Practice moving your hips in a slow figure eight. if grinding with a touchy feely girl, put your arms around HER hips and get behind her.

But don't kill her or breathe on her too much. tic tacs would be good.

having said that, i might not have the BEST dvise in the entire world, as the last time I danced I got tangled up in this guy's feet and tripped him up.

If you can't dance dirty, then there really isn't a whole lot you can do. You could watch MTV and watch people dance and try to emulate to get prepared. Once you are on the dance floor, your best bet would be to grind from behind, ergo your dance partner wouldn't see the slight look of panic on your face. Once you are there, just watch the other guys and try to mimic them....oh yeah....DON'T SNAP! LOL

actually..you sound just like a friend of mine who has the same exact problem. i would agree with the other person who said watching MTV to try to take some of their moves..most likely the people at the party won't have as much moves as Justin Timberlake. so don't try to learn a whole routine. just learn how to move your body ..and at the party,be confident..no one will even notice you don't know how to dance. Well, hope i helped you.at least a little bit?

Don't do anything that makes you feel dumb or that degrades you in any way just because peer pressure is being applied. Be yourself!!
