Art is the external examples of a creative mind. Creative thinking begins very early and can manifest itself in a multitude of ways.
A creative thinker is not necessarily just an artist but can be a mathematician, a scientist, a farmer, a mother, a boy scout.
For many individuals, creating art is the physical release of their ideas, dreams and imagination. The whole creative thought process needs to be practiced, honed and polished to reach it's full potential which is why it's so important to have art at the elementary school level. Admittedly, great artists will emerge regardless of personal roadblocks and obstacles, almost despite the odds, but most artists need to have the talent directed and focused during the formative years. That's why many successful artist always refer back to a 'great' art teacher they had somewhere during their education that served as a inspirational beacon, guiding them.
For the artist, creating is as necessary as breathing. It can be as addictive as drugs. It is a constant factor in their lives; in their dreams. If an accident renders an artist incapable of painting or drawing, they will find another outlet to express themselves. They'll write a book or design a garden.
That entire thought process always bubbles to the surface one way or another.
People who do not possess the marvelous ability to create art are often fascinated by the entire process and the end result.
They collect it, exhibit it, admire it. Although they don't understand the thought process or mind set of an artist, a painting gives them a small window to world they can only wonder about. They can't create the art but they can weep for the beauty of it.

As a sign/face and body painter I think art is the besf form of self expression. Whether I am bored, sad, happy, euphoric, contemplative ...whatever....I can doodle or paint myself into anyplace or frame of mind I want to.
As a viewer art can uplift or inspire awe. Art can build rage, disgust, love, empathy or sorrow. It can motivate you to spend money or give it to charity.
Art can give solace, art can give joy.
To sum it up, I'd say art is an emotional thing.

art should have aesthetic value. whether it pleases the eyes or the ears. It should not be simply an expression of yourself. anyone can express themselves, but not everyone can make ART.

Its nice but it really depends on the style, and what i'm interested in. I like to sketch, draw, and paint, but I don't like abstract art.

I guess its a great thing to just explain your emotions and tell people who you are. Your style, your passion. Just a way for people to understand you.
