My neighbors take it upon themselves to park on my 50ft alotted right of way- they do this weekly to the point of taking up the area right before my driveway which is where my mailbox is. Once my mailcarrier stated that she didnt deliver the mail the day before due to access being blocked. She also happens to be a nice old lady who apparently wont do her duty of informing the post master of this. Its a RIGHT OF WAY, so they have the right in this county to park there so long as theyre facing the flow of traffic. But as mentioned, sometimes I have no mail in my box, and the next day, theres double the amount that ought to be there implying the mail carrier couldnt deliver it the previous day. How do I legally handle this issue. They run an asaphalt petroleum company AND a church out of their home (ISNT THAT WEIRD?) and have their "worshippers" taking up the right of way with their vehicles weekly. What can I do about them?

You cannot ticket someone for parking on the right of way as long as they are facing traffic. Please do not make assumptions. Read my posting completely. Its the mailcarriers duty to report this to the post master.

The nice old lady is portly and not likely to get her "walk" on.

laws vary by county and my county is unincorporated and thus, they can park as they have been according to the poilce. Only a few miles from me, its illegal.

My mailbox is a concrete and brick column. I should not be required to move it for someone else behavior. Most people can run businesses out of their homes. However I do not know the legallity of a church/petroleum asaphalt company being run from a home. Also, seems like a great loop hole for tax evasion considering that you could CLAIM your asaphalt companies business checks as TAX FREE donations to the church, of yourself. He uses his middle name as a pastor and his first name as the business owner, pretty fishy.

I am a former letter carrier. If you have curbside delivery then the postal vehicle has the right of way to your mailbox. If she cannot access your box from within the truck she can "tag" an offending vehicle with a notice which shows the clearances on each side of the box. Unless there is some kind of hazard (dog, bees nest, etc...) that prevents her from safely delivering your mail she is REQUIRED by postal regulations to deliver it, even if she has to get out of the truck and walk to your box. Legally there is nothing you can do about your neighbors. If you feel you are not getting your mail because your carrier refuses to leave the truck call the PO and complain. The Post Offices motto is "every piece, every day". Good Luck.

You need to report them to the post office if the mail carrier won't. She could be a member of their church.
If they are on your land even alittle have them towed, put up a sign informing of towing if on your private property at their expense.
Check with your state, our state will punish people for blocking other people's mailboxes. The police should be talking to them, parking the right way is different from blocking someone's property and denyng them access to it.
Seems to me you need to go to the townhall and speak with the management.

Have you asked them nicely to stop blocking the mailbox? Alternately, you could post a sign near the mailboxes that says, "Please don't block the mailboxes". Seems to me that the church-goers would be more than happy to accommodate such a simple request.
Interesting that even in a right-of-way, that it would be okay to block the mailboxes...It's always totally illegal here.
I suppose that if it's legal there, and they're not willing to accommodate your polite request, then there's probably not much else you can do. It might be fun to go yell at them, or punch them out, but it's not recommended.

I'm just curious. Why aren't they using their own driveway/land or parking on their own side of the street?
Also, is your neighborhood zoned for commercial activities.......I mean can they legally run a business out of their home?
Move your mailbox up in your driveway where the Lady has to pull in, put your mail in, then back out. That will get her attention.

You can report them to the postmaster, or the postal police. Maybe your "nice old lady mail carrier" should get out of her vehicle and walk past the car to your mailbox.

Just call the police and let them know what is happening. They should get a ticket for parking there.

Put up a handicapped parking sign. You can buy them, and they will stop parking there, I'll bet.
