I am taking online courses at the local community college. That is about all that my job permits. My teacher has not responded to any of anybody's emails, takes weeks to grade what assignments he does post, and is impossible to get a hold of. I have e-mailed him, posted questions in our discussion boards, called his office, and even his home. Nothing. He set an appointment for one monday to discuss with us what was going on for the rest of the semester. I was unable to attend, I work; I'm taking online courses for a reason. Anyway, I tried to get a hold of him to find out what I need to do. No answer. So a posted a topic on our board. I just found out yesterday (december 4th) that I have a total of six papers (including one I was already working on) due by the 11th. That gives me six days to do six papers. These papers we have to do were spread out through the semester on his syllabus, but he told us not to do them earlier. Now he just throws them at us all at once. What should I do?!

I've called the deans office three times now. Each time they have told me to call his house again. I am just going to go in (when I have the time) with every bit of corespondence I have from him.
I am working on my second paper right now. I will be transferring to a state college next month.
I'm just pissed. I have a 3.7 GPA and I'd like to keep it.

Call the dean of the college. Most online courses have rules for the online teachers that outline how much time they have to respond to emails and quesitons. I teach online and my college rules say that emails have to be answered in three days and direct questions via the class dicusssion board have to be answered inside of two days. I also have to post online office hours per week that I am to be online, guaranteed.

Honestly, there are only few things you really can do.
-Buckle down, drink tons of coffee, and stick the class through to the end... Regardless of how much of a jerk the guy is.
-Drop the class. I know this would seem like a waste of money, but it may help you save your GPA.
- Retake the class. Wait it through to the end, and just retake the class again with a different professor.
- Since you can't get in contact with your professor, complain to the dean of the college that is offering these online courses. Explain your problem to him/her as you did on here. No dean can ignore a professor this horrible...
good luck

You need to lodge a complaint with the head office of the college. In fact I would give them a call now, to voice Your complaints, and see if anything can be done about getting an extension on these papers. Continue to call until Someone listens. If it is an on line course, it seems strange to me that He would call a meeting. He knows that You are contacting Him. So email Him again about Your complaints, about all of this work, that is due in such a short period of time, after You already inquired about the papers, and were told not to do them. Your best bet is the paper trail.
I have heard of this happening before. Best of Luck.

Talk to the education director of the community college, tell him what you've written here, and I'm sure something will be done about him... but as for you writing all those papers, you'de have to miss work which is the whole point of the class not to do, so I'de say group together with some other class mates and talk to the professor any way you can.

Manage your time and buckle down. Some teachers demand the most of you because they believe that it will be benefical to you in the future. There's nothing you can do to change a teacher who's stuck to his ways. Just get through the course the best you can. Seek out help from other professors/and or people you know if you need help on the papers. Utilize the library and resources. And don't have a break-down. Trust me, it doen\sn't help anything.

You can drop and retake the class with a different teacher or you can contact the dean and inform him/her of your issues. I would drop if I were you. Contacting the dean will pose this prof against you. In a class based on papers and not tests he has wide latitude in grading your papers.
You may think that he will deal with your issues as a professional and not be vindictive in grading your papers. Consider that he already has shown that he is not a professional. Trust me, if you pi** off your teacher you are going to get it back. I am a college instructor.

Sounds to me that he isnt experiance enough to be a online teacher. Id try and get ahold of the company that you online programs are threw and tell them your problems and see what they have to say or what they can do about it as in maybe get you a new teacher or if you can use a different online course then id try using www.pennfoster.com because that is a very good online program ive recently graduated from it and they have college classes also.

Drop the class as soon as possible if my money would be refunded. If it was too late to drop it to get a refund, then I'd have to stay and deal with the teacher. I would've known in the beginning if this wasn't a good teacher for me. And you're only telling us your side, so I think, it also depends on the student.
Check out http://www.Ratemyprofessors.com to see students' comments about their former professors. You can check if your college is listed there.

You are learning a valuable life lesson. That lesson is that many College Professors are incompetent fools who should be fired. Since that does not happen very often, you are stuck with having to work to his tune. Since he will grade your work, you are stuck having to kiss his asss. That what you should do to get past this jerk. Once you have done that, I would definitely go to the Dean and complain.

If that teacher had to respond to every e-mail from every student he wouldn't have time to teach. You knew when he was having the discussion. You should have had someone go for you, or contacted someone else in the class on what to do, if you couldn't be there! You need to take responsibility for yourself and not blame your teacher!!
