The biggest thing they need to do is listen to Leyland and work hard during spring training. They need to avoid complacency and maintain the work ethic that got them there( the World Series hangover is a concern). They also need to address some defensive issues, overall they were pretty good but some work could be done to improve (and I am not just refering to the pitching breakdowns in the WS). They addressed the need for a big bat with Sheffield ( dont listen to the people that say he is a negative player- he has traditionally been a good teammate for most of his career) and dont forget they re signed Casey (very important, they needed his left handed bat very badly not to mention he is a great teammate and very well liked everywhere he has been). They could still look to pick up a situational leftie for the pen and another lefthanded bat for the bench.
They are certainly set for another strong run as long as they stay pretty healthy and with a few breaks who knows..... Tiger fans could very well be celebrating a WS championship next year!!!

Not to brag, or sound snotty, but I think The Tigers are set.

With Sheffield (providing he stays healthy) added they are looking good.
The only thing I can think of is a lefty specialist to replace Jamie Walker. They could use another left handed bat as well.

Hopefully the pitching stays strong.

I am not saying they will go to the world series again, but they should be in contention for a play-off spot. After that anything can happen.

For the first time in years, other clubs are calling Dombrowski, not the other way around. That's a good sign.

After their improbable run with their very young pitching staff I think they should leave the team alone. Inevitably they are going to make a few minor changes, subtractions and additions, that is a given, but they don't need any major moves. They are poised for another run to the playoffs and with a little luck on their side they have a shot at the World Series. Once the playoffs start it's anyones game, St. Louis did a job proving that.

If you mean the World Series? They last won that in 1984. If you mean the AL championship, 2006.

i agree with pretty much everyone here. it's not often in pro sports that you have the opportunity to leave the team alone (free agency, etc). verlander, miner, zumaya, granderson and all the other rookies will be that much better next year because of their experience.

in fact, i think if granderson can get from 175 to 125 strikeouts, he will fill a lot of needs for this team. write it down. granderson in 07: .290 avg, 20hr, 70rbi, 30sb, and 120k.

they shouldnt go after anyone. but they did make a move already on sheffield. so the tigers are pretty well off with the depth in the outfield. and then you have the pitching experience and depth there too, so you shouldnt hcange the roles right now.

I think that the Tigers are pretty much set after getting Sheff, no need to tinker much further with this team.

Miguel Cabrera, if they can get him on the next Marlins fire sale. However, if JD` Drew got 70 million, consider how much Cabrera will be asking for

EXPERIENCE... thats all i really think they need.... they're a really young team, and i really think they'll get better each year, especially this one, after getting Sheff.
