I may need to take birth control pills for my cramps. Would I need to take them all month or just for a few days before and after? Also, how much do they cost and will my insurance (state insurance) cover it?

Also, any potential side effects? My mother is worried about it, but I've heard there aren't any.

u'd have to take them all month. ur insurance should cover, but if it doesn't, check for a planned parenthood in ur area. they do it for free. there are potential side affects, but they don't happen for everyone (i never had any with mine). but you could gain some weight, have a lowered libido, and the first few months you'll feel a bit hormonal, because bc pills are basically little hormone tablets. but each type of pill has different affects. ask ur dr.

Check with your Dr. your insurance should cover some part. And yes you will have to take them for the entire month. Your cramps should diminish very soon. There are no possible side effects, except for your cramping and pains. Take care girlfriend.

Insurance will usually cover all expenses of birth control. Where I live, you can also get a free prescription from the public health clinic.
