no, i think you need realistic hopes and dreams,,,,, if you dont have either,,,, then to me its like you are just breathing, not really living, like a part of your soul/spirit is dead,,,,, like the old"its better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all" ,,,,,,but i do understand what you are saying,,,, not having hopes prevents you from disappointment and also sometimes i have felt that if i really wanted something, that would be the one thing i wouldnt get,, like i jinxed myself by hoping ! but im happier now that i am able to get beyond that, and risk being heartbroken,,,

Without hopes or dreams, there would be no point to life. Having a completely monotonous life seems rather... boring. The ups and downs of life are what make it so exciting and fun.

When you feel like all hope is lost and you'll never reach your dreams, you should become all the more determined and hopeful to succeed. I'm sure heartbreak is painful, but I also believe that it would be even more painful to not feel anything at all.

I've been in desperate situations where I thought there was no way I would ever feel good again, where I wanted to become numb to the entire world. But having hopes and dreams to work toward, even when they seem so far and so lost, make life interesting, worthwhile, and meaningful.

Never give up hope and never lose sight of your dreams. "Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today." -James Dean

If you don't have hopes and dreams, what is the point in getting out of bed every day, dealing with disappointment is part of life and necessary for emotional growth.

It is nice to be guarded from the hurt, but I like to have my hopes and dreams, so that I have something to strive for. They help me get up in the morning, and make sure I'm still living. I'm not gonna judge you, but I understand why you'd believe in that. My friends used to tell me "Low standards, high hopes." You know for like my standards for chicks. How bout, "High standards, low hopes".
