I blame Boycott. The English players are so scared of getting out playing attacking shots that they are blocking everything.

Why can't they play attacking cricket like in the last Ashes?

Why can't they play to win?

I don't think they have that winning attitude or are putting their best eleven on the paddock. They went into 1st test underdone and the second with complacency borne of contempt. After all,in the last series, they lost the first test then went on to take The Ashes away from Australia. And after such a massive score in their first innings must have been feeling fairly confident of the same thing happening.or at least forcing a draw..Now they have their backs to the wall and will have to produce something pretty special in Perth to keep their hopes of retaining The Ashes alive........OH and don't forget "The WARNE Factor"

I am distraught. Not only do I owe my Australian mate $100, I have to put up with his gloating.

He's right, though, we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Give the captaincy to Strauss, let Flintoff be the marvellous all rounder he is, retire Giles (in the side for his batting - and made a duck!!) and bring on Monty, find a keeper who can bat (Gilchrist is a good example) replace non event Anderson and we might compete. Oh, and teach Harmison that the three sticky up bits are what you should aim at or somewhere near at least.

I am going to pack my kit and email Duncan Fletcher that I am available. Well I couldn't do any worse, could I?

not only should giles not play in the remaining test matches....he should be forced into retirement IMMEDIATELY for bringing the game of english cricket into disrepute!!!! england team should send giles back to england on the next flight and put him on economy class......but if i had the decision ...i would put giles in a cage similar to the ones dogs adn monkeys are held in and put in a ship(yes a ship i would make him suffer for a long period and torture him just like he tortured us during the series so far)....and put him in some deserted island with his sunglasses so that he can think about how he lost the ashes and dropped ponting!!!!! same with anderson and jones but to a lesser extent....harmison is coming close to that kind of punishment!!!! flintoff is a great all rounder but he cannot captain the side....give the dam.n thing to strauss who did a reasonable job before!!!! england building up for the ashes had for long period....panesar...plunkett...read...staruss as captain.....when ashes time comes around.....giles in...anderson in...jones in....flintoff in as captain....all who have not played cricket for AGES!!!!! that is how to lose a cricket series my friend if ever i saw one!!!! i reckon some chinese cricketers could play better than giles!!!!

boycott talks alot of sense, besides pieterson, flintoff and jones got out playing stupid attacking shots anywayThe game turned on a bad decision for strauss.the problem is the bowling not the batting.if you cant get 20 wickets you wont win

I fully agree with you. The gas went out of England Team after Australia scored 531 runs in their 1st innings and they went on too much defensive due to inexplicable reasons which cost them the 2nd Test. Shame on their part.

I think they were playing for the draw from ball 1, instead of playing there natural game. Altho there was afew awful shots the batsmen got out to

At 6 this morning I couldn't believe what I was seeing, A down hearted, dispirited team.
Every English player had a look of defeat on their faces-seriously!.
Tight lipped, scratching faces, ears etc!. You'd have thought they had lost before they begun.
Come on lads!, wheres your summer fight!?.
Attack! attack! attack!.
