u can look at the number plate.. if the number plate says 01/51 then that car was made in 2001... if the plate says 01 then it was made beiugnning of 2001 and if it says 51 then it was made after august (pretty sure this is correct, i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong)

same goes for 02/52, 03/53 and so on til 06/56

if the car was made before the new style plates u can judge when it was made by looking at the first letter.... my car is V reg and was made in 1999 but some T reg are also made in 1999...

hope this helps!

Worth remembering that the car may have made some time before it is actually registered - f'rinstance a car with a 02 number plate may have been registered in March 2002, but actually built in 2001 or earlier. The VIN plate will reveal the build completion year.

The first two letters of the registration mark represent the registration area. The following number (0 or 5) means "early" or "late" and the next number is the year. Thus, "56" means late 2006.

Come 2010, the sequence will be "10" for early 2010 and "60" for late 2010.

The cars serial or VIN number will tell you what year it was made, what day it rolled off the line, what plant is was assembled at and other such information. American cars also have a sticker or plate on the door frame or inside the glove box that lists all the options that were on the car when it left the factory.

The 10th digit in your VIN# is the year...(it will be a letter)

G=1985 H=1986 I=1987 J=1988 K=1989 L=1990 and so on until you run out of letters, then they start with #'s

cars would normally be reg'd between 1/08 and 31/07 each year until it changed sequence in March 1999. Starting as say far back as 01/08/1992 to 31/07/1993 it was "K" then 01/08/93 to 31/07/1994 it was "L" and so on up 01/08/98 it started "S" and then finished the end of Feb 1999. As mentioned earlier it then changed sequence(every 6 months) 01/03/1999 with "T" till end of August 1999 when it changed to "V" from 01/09/1999 to end of March 2000 and then so on "W" - "X" - finishing on "Y" at the end of August 2001. There was NO 01 plates and 51 plates started from September 2001 thru to End of Feb 2002 when 02 started from March 2002 till end of August, 52 then from Sept 2002 till end of Feb 2003 when it changed to 03 from March 2003 and so on.
Upto March 1999 the letter was before any number and letter combinations ie L123ABC then it changed to AB51CDE
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Yes, say if the car was made in the past 6 years it might have a lisence like eg. KJ55 the last two numbers mean that it was made in the second year of 05.

If it was another one say KJ01 this says it was made in the first half of 01.

All vehicles built since 1981 have a seventeen didgit VIN plate. Digit number 10 is the year.

newer ones usually have the year number as the 3rd and 4th digits, eg pk06nea was made on 2006.

older ones go by the first letter of the number plate and if you don't know off the top of your head what years they are you would have to look it up.
