Odysseus is recognized at last by his wife in book 23 (the second to last), after she mentions moving the bed. In the Fitzgerald translation (which I'm using), the book is titled "The Trunk of the Olive Tree), which is a reference to the fact that Odysseus has made their bed around the trunk of an olive tree and cannot be moved. Only they and their maid know this, so it becomes like a secret code between them to recognize each other at last.
