Prozac does not in any way affect your intelligence. Habitually using drugs that kill brain cells will (e.g. alcohol, crack-cocaine, etc.).
As for concentration, it may have a negative affect for some people and a postive affect for others. If it does affect your concentration in a negative way, then it may not be the drug for you. There are numerous antidepressant drugs on the market now. Don't give up. There is a drug that will help you.
Psychopharmacologically and theoretically speaking, Prozac acts as an agonist to serotonin (blocks the reuptake of serotonin into the presynaptic neuron, thereby making more available for binding to the postsynaptic nueron's receptor sites), especially within the limbic system and in parts of the prefrontal cortext. If there is more serotonin available in the prefrontal cortex, dopamine levels increase via secondary circuits. Having more dopamine in the prefrontal cortex aides in concetration (ADD and ADHD type drugs directly increase dopamine levels in the prefrontal cortex, which helps the afflicted person concentrate better than when he/she is not taking the drug).
Now, personally speaking, I've been on and off of prozac for over twelves years. There have been times where my concentration was inhibited and other times it was amplified. When my concentration was affected negatively, I would quit using it. However, it may be difficult to attribute this to the affects of the drug itself or from your depression not lifting via the dosage you are on. If you are on Prozac and are experiencing a problem with your concentration, I would speak to the doctor that prescribed this medication for you.

Prozac can cause difficulty concentrating, but it has zero effect on innate intelligence. And to address the suicide remark, no it doesn't make me feel that way, but it does keep me from wanting to knock some sense into the uninformed. Prozac ain't for everyone, however it works wonders for me. The only side effects I've experienced is cotton mouth, and sleep disruption. It also cures PMS, so Prozac is a wonder drug, in my husband's opinion. LOL!

Obviously the whole moderation system is in need of a re-work or overhaul on the Yahoo! Answers/Yahoo Platform. As far as moderation, some categories deserve more attention than others, due to either volume, controversial subject matters, or history of frequent abuse or abusers. Strange, because it seems the moderation in Yahoo! Groups works fine. Multiple accounts are a difficult thing because one can always claim the other account as a spouse, relative or friend when really it isn't. Given the technology of a multi-billion company it is amazing these type questions even have to be asked, surely it's not brain surgery for technology giants to figure out themselves. :-)

There is probably not enough research if any on that question. However, depression can affect concentration so treatment for depression should improve concentration.

I would avoid it. Look at Homeopathy for substitutes. Also:
' Back To Eden ' By Jethro Kloss ( Unabridged )
Look through it before you acquire it so you're convinced.
