Mine is next week ,
I had a lesson today and I wasn't up to my usual standard.

Is this because of my test???????

Obviously I was nervous and annoyed that I have to drive while somebody is watching my every move. So to make sure I there isn't time to make many mistakes I deliberately drove a little slower than I should have done. Luckily my test was in a morning rush hour (however, we went on roads that weren't busy) but still that did slow things down as I had to wait for cars to pass etc. (just like in a rush hour period). So I guess, the likelyhood of mistakes made was less. I even had to do an emergency stop. the test person said 'What a belting driver' to my driving instructor who was waiting for me in at the test centre.

Very nervous on the first one and I failed because of that by making stupid mistakes that I never made on my lessons, plus the fact that my examiner was rude and cold towards me didn't help at all. I was better on the second test but still nervous because of my bad first experience so I still didn't pass and once again, it was for stupid little one-offs. The third time was certainly lucky because I simply stayed calm and was much more relaxed and yippee, I finally did it. Your state of mind is the absolute key and as long as you do every little move in a cool and calm way, you will be just fine. Good luck!

I bet some American will answer and say something like 'I was in the state of California' or something.
Seriously tho I was calmer than I thought I could be. I was flapping a bit before the pre test lesson but once you get in the car it will all fall into place. Get yourself a good nights sleep beforehand. Dont be tempted to have a night cap. And just drive like you were taught to. Your instructor wouldn't put you thru if he didn't think you were up to it.
Best of luck

I had a mare of a time before the test!

The instructor turned up late (15 minutes before the test was due) in a different car to what I was used to (hers had broken down). Bang went my pre test lesson.
I had to break every driving law in the book (well, almost) to get to the centre. I got in there just as they were gonna give up on me.
I was over dressed (wore a jacket and boy was it hot) so all through the test I was sweating like a pig (could've been nerves).
I thought I blew it big time on the reverse round a corner.
I had trouble naming the sign the examiner showed me (definitely nerves)

The test was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be but with all of the agg before the test I was almost a nervous wreck before I got there.

But I still manged to pass first time :o)

I was REALLY nervous before my test. And the few lessons leading up to it I drove badly!

There's no point in saying "dont worry" coz obviously its gonna be a bit stressful, but I was absolutely shaking before mine, but once I got in the car and took a few deep breaths I was fine and passed!

Good Luck!!!!!

You are nervous, I was like that too but I know easier said than done but don't think of it as a test but as another lesson on the day.

I was nervous, took it in my instructors car. There were 4 other students there, we all went together. I knew I failed. But I didn't I passed! One of the other students failed, I think he was over confident. Just try to smile and stay relaxed, and drive like your granny. You'll be fine.

I was really nervous and during my test thought I'd blown it on a number of occasions but I passed first time! You'll be ok otherwise your instructor wouldn't let you do it! Good luck, hope you pass :o)

I've had four tests, I was especially nervous before my third one, my wife had been taken into hospital with complications during the pregnancy, I didn't want to cancel and lose the money and I failed miserably!!!
