your battery may be bad or your cables my not be connected properly to the computer. I would check the cables and then call dell customer service because they should be able to help you out and it is a free fix if they can. also if your battery is bad it may be under warranty so talking to dell should help you there too

Battery went bad... No longer able to hold a charge for very long.

How old is the laptop?

Depending on how old the laptop is... If the warrenty is good and not expired. You should be able to contact Dell and get a replacement battery free of charge.

If the laptop's warrenty has expired you may have to purchase another battery from Dell or you can purchase on through Ebay or other site that sells laptop batteries.

Also, check with Dell's website and see if the battery is one of those being recalled.
