The definition of a crime is the violation of a law. If the law says that abortion is a crime, it is. If the law doesn't state it, then there's no crime in having an abortion. There are many areas where abortion is legal. Moral issues notwithstanding, a crime means that a civil or federal law has been broken.

Depends on where you are, while most western civilizations don't consider it a crime, many Middle Eastern nations would. However, the principle of concern generally lies in the fact that the fetus being removed would eventually carry to full term and thus produce a baby human. By perfroming an abortion, essentially one is murdering a person prior to their being born.

well basically its considered a crime because you are killing a human being. reguardless of whether or not its outside or inside the mother. if someone killed a pregnant woman would you not expect the law to charge that person with murdering the baby also? with abortion you are basically hiring a hit man to do the job for you.

it's considered a crime because it is against some religions, and even though the baby isn't outside and walking and talking, it's still alive and some people don't realize that.
