Kinkella played four seasons in the Grand Rapids Developmental Arena Football League and saw a lot of playing time at a young age. In just his first year he threw for 56 touchdowns and was a nominee for the Most Valuable Player of the Year Award. Kinkella won the Rookie of the year award and Quarterback of the year in just his first season playing. In his final season Kinkella broke the record for most career touchdowns with 392 and had only thrown 21 interceptions in his four years in the League. He won three MVP awards and won the Grand Rapids Arena Bowl Championship in his final season.
