Seriously, if she is really overweight and you are concerned about her health then get membership to the gym for the both of you. Plan a curriculum for BOTH of you to go at certain times so she doesn't take it personal. This is very sensitive for a woman but for a woman to be overweight it is dangerous. More dangerous than for a male. A woman has a higher risk of heart disease for this reason you should be concerned. A gym membership would be a good idea. If this ends up being too personal or too expensive start by taking walks then move it up to steady jogs. This will in turn, turn into personal time together. She will appreciate that.

My husband gained 45 pounds after we got married and I stayed at 102. I was concerned because his blood pressure went up, he started having chest pains, and diabetes runs in his family. He is tall so he didn't look bad nor was I unattracted but I was seriously concerned about his health. I finally got myself membership to the gym, and he then fallowed. He has now lost all the weight and then some feeling GREAT!!! But let her know it is for health reason why you BOTH need to get in shape. That is the main point.

Hope this helps, remember not to do this for vanity but for health reasons.

GASP...okay, number one...dont tell her you noticed, or ask her to lose weight, Be body consious of yourself and she may pick up on the trend...(if you can eat whatever you want and not gain weight, but she gains just by looking at a cookie, then YOU should avoid the cookie) For example, your at the grocery store with her, and shes eyeing the ice cream, you should say something like "hun if you get ice cream can you go for the smaller size, I dont want any, I am trying to eat a little healthier" this way you havent taken her treat away, but you set an example, if you exercise, geat, if not start...and so on, once she follows dont jump off and go back to old habbits, youll appreciate the hard work shes doing for herself more, beacuse your experiencing it too, youll also be her support, remember, if she starts being healthier because you started it, then she to will jumpoff when you do...and be sincere..dont scarf down soda, and pizza at the office, and eat a salad at the dinner table - thats cheating! As soon as she tells you she thinks she may have lost a few lbs, dont overreact, but loving say, thats great, you look beautiful, and if you lost any weight let her know. Just remember, she has to want to do it, if you let her know you want her to lose the weight... she will resent you for it.

First I wouldn't say a word to her. Teach yourself how to cook good food. Do the grocery shopping and start cooking lower calorie meals. She will never know they are lower in calories and fats if you don't tell her. Tell her you have decided that you want to cook more. That way it won't hurt her feelings and you will get her healthier.

I started eating a salad a day. I was a size 16. That started a healthy diet plan which I now enjoy. I lost 15lbs the first year without really trying because of the salad a day.

Now I feel horrible if II eat loads of carb rich food.

Try a diabetic diet of around 60 carbs per meal. I eat that way myself now and I am down to a size 4/6. It did take several years to lose of the extra weight. Now I feel great and am in wonderful shape, my blood pressure has come down to the point that the doctors told me that I could come off my meds for it.

Good Luck

Weight is the most sensitive thing for women in general so proceed with caution or she may rip your balls off.
If she needs to lose weight medically then you should start from the health angle (high blood pressure, breast cancer more of a risk for women packing extra pounds) and not the "You would look so hot if you would lose Xlbs..." Trust me, she'll hate herself, and probably you too.
If you are worried for her health then try to get her family involved, they can say things you'd never get away with.
If you are worried about it for looks then maybe you should consider what you may be lacking before approaching her.

Well i would not just go to your wife and say "Hi honey you are fat you need to loose weight!" That would probably mess with her self-esteem. If you want her to loose weight then the both of you should join a gym together. I would probably make her happy if you two where to do something together like that!

Get her some diet pills. If she is really overweight, then go to a doctor and have her tested, so that a specialist can set her up with a diet that is right her body and such.

my aunt was overweight and she went to a doctor, and she lost a lot of weight within a couple months.

If you really love your wife....It wouldn't matter but being obese is pretty dangerous! Take her on maybe long walks every day and YOU cook a healthy dinner and breakfast and all that jazz....
Good Luck!

Take walks together, exercise together. Tell her that YOU are the one that is feeling unhealthy and hopefully she will jump on the band wagon. DO NOT tell her that you think she is overweight. It will humiliate her. Just help her. If you love her, it will happen.

You could start doing active activities with her... or tell her that you feel unhealthy and want to start eating better, and ask her to support you and do it with you... honestly, I think the best way would be to tell her you aren't as physically attracted to her because she's putting on weight. It won't be so good for your marriage but she'll definately work on it.

Encourage her by getting her to exercise WITH YOU. The main reason many people don't exercise is not necessarily because they don't have the time (you can MAKE the time.) but because they don't have anyone to exercise WITH.

She probably just needs a little loving support.
