If I were Amitabh Bachchan, I would be bored with all the roles that he's been given because they are very similar. Actors, and other people for that matter, like to stretch themselves and test themselves and see what they are capable of. Amitabh is probably secure enough in his career that he doesn't worry about whether a film is a success or a flop, he cares whether the role is interesting or not.
Also, i think it can be argued that he has been the villain in some roles because he plays the stern father who drives away his children with his pride and unyielding ways. That's a villain if I've ever heard of one.

look buddy, by portraying villain's role, he's not breaking his glamorous career. look at John Abraham, he has made his career by playing negative role.
It's not character people look at, it's the way you represent that character. After all he is an actor and he should try his hands at every possible character. be it villain, romantic hero, action hero, commedian. And I think he's capable of doing all the characters one can imagine.
