i had my Implanon put in July, and had a month with no bleeding. after that i am basically constantly bleeding and have had about 3 (spearate) weeks without bleeding! it's getting really frustrating now, as well as totally inconvenient! and its not very nice for my sex life either! what am i going to do??

see you doc and get the minipill, this is supposed to sort it out.

Implanon can have very varied effects on the menstrual cycle. Some women have no periods at all, others have irregular bleeding, some have very heavy bleeding, some have irregular or frequent lighter bleeding. Problems with periods are one of the main reasons that women discontinue its use.

I have read some info that suggests too much bleeding can be treated by also taking the pill on top (http://www.gpnotebook.co.uk/cache/179201... but taking hormones on top of hormones seems a bit much to me....

I guess you'll have to weigh up the pros and cons and decide whether you want to wait and see if it gets better or if you want to get it removed.

I suffered the same trouble with the implants for over a year eventuall i had them removed from my arm an tried the contraceptive injection instead,if you can see the funny side of it though ......it means its really workin lol

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and i can tell you that you are experiencing a hemorrhage either the coil has shifted or it's something more serious and you must seek medical advice asap
