Gosh, when I first started working (and got my First Degrees), there were NO COMPUTERS at all -- anywhere -- and I remember that in the last year of my UGrad Program -- there was this new-fangled thing called the Punch Card Reader -- and that was my first introduction to computers.
It took many years after that for Dumb Terminals to show up in the office -- and they were very limited. I've seen software programs come and go -- and yes, LIFE in general in the workworld has gotten easier -- e-backups, digital copies, many more machines, and the way you can edit and print out something so fast now (when you had to type everything in all the columns perfectly or start over again) -- well, that is something that I've grown with over the years.
Now ... I love my computer for the data storage -- and the fun stuff I can do with the Digital Image Processing Software (like photoshop) which I use with my Digital SLR camera (what a difference from the 35mm SLRs -- and the cost of a digital chip is a FRACTION of the cost of film, processing for 35 mm cameras -- plus, they can be erased and used over and over again), the fact that I have massive storage, backup drives, and don't have to dedicate several huge storage cabinets for records anymore, and every other advancement ... well, I definitely AM ENJOYING This time ...
