We could reduce gas consumption from a gas tax- why not?
Give me some reasons why you think the gov. stick with CAFE plus doesn`t increase tax?

It hurts the poor and consumer confidence in spending. We need to tax the rich more.

Europe has the highest tax on gasoline in the world. The users have adapted and it has not reduced consumption. Its called personal freedom and our auto's give us that. Plus public transportation is not available where I work. So all it would do is cost me more money.

I'm paying enough for gas as it is.. and i do my part by driving a 4banger to use less gas... also.. i thought the Bush/Cheney administration WAS a gas tax?

I was not aware that it was a goal to limit gas consumption.I thought we were trying to reduce pollutants.
