No. Because it is contrary to the constitution. Simple as that. Furthermore, if someone doesn't take the time to get informed I would rather they didn't vote and stay out of the way of those of us who do. Jefferson warned of the uneducated masses, and the tyranny of the mob.

It would be better if every ELIGIBLE voter went to the poles. But in reality, some people are so self absorbed, or concerned more with TV and other meaningless crap, that they don't care. Come to think of it...it's a pretty good thing that not everyone votes, since so many people have no clue about the world anyway. The point should be that more people should pay attention to the real world, then they might see the importance of voting.

Some countries (Australia) make it mandatory. Sounds good, but I think there are problems with it. I think people should earn the right to vote through some type of public service - military or Americorps to name a couple. I would anticipate earning "the rights of a citizen," would come with other means of service. Anyway, I think citizens would value this privilege more if there were some sweat equity involved with it.

It should be a rule that only people who know what the heck is going on should vote.
It shouldn't be allowed for uninformed voters to vote, so therefore I must say no. There are already too many people who blindly vote.

No it shouldn't be. Too many people that currently vote have no clue about the issues and where the candidates stand. This would just increase that, and we'd get even worse people representing us than we've already got.

I find critical thinking in short supply and cringe at the thought of forcing fools to vote.

I like the approach they were trying in Arizona, offering a chance at winning a million dollars to people who vote.

No. Right to vote should also include the right not to vote, just as freedom of speech should include the right to remain silent.
