Thought without logic can be tricky.
No beginning-to have a beginning means there was once 'nothing'. 'Nothing' is fine-'something' coming from nothing is not fine. (or it may be) . The other possibility is that 'something' has always been. This poses the obvious question- what can be without beginning or end? The answer is fairly simple- It is the ability to ask the question. What if, let's say, that 'nothing' can be without beginning or end. That is 'nothing' exists. 'Nothing' is the 'something' that has no beginning or end and the thing that has always been and is.So what is the 'something' that is 'nothing'?
"prove all things"- St Paul
"if you stare into the abyss too long, you will see it stare back into you"- can't remember who said that

what is the something without nothing? how can you take away absolute value and existence from something to make it nothing? maybe disprove it's existence or abolish it, or wait, if the something has always been present, making it continuous, what defines the beginning and what defines the end? what can be without beginning or end? the expected answer is time and maybe space? is existance finite? you said that if nothing exists, nothing is without beginning or end, and i think of existance to be limited, having an end and beginning, making it something instead of nothing, nothing is infinite, maybe nothing is continuous and something is present in this continuous nothing, creating a beginning and end, giving it a finite value?
but the way you said how something can come from nothing, wow, i really liked the way you thought into it,
thank you for putting that up, unlike the other useless and repetitive questions people have been asking, i like this one, even if i can't fully comprehend it like you
karrymea and socrates, how can something void (nothing) have a beginning and end? you can't assume the beginning of something is the beginning of nothing and if you believe the mind to be finite, where is the logic and comparison of nothing being finite coming from? if the conscience is finite, that doesn't make nothing finite because nothing would be a concept conceived by the mind and the mind is capable of comprehending infinity, (bad example but calculus deals with inifinity like a number but at the same time it's different than a number), i just don't see what you're saying, could you expand on that?
to give nothing a beginning and end is to make that nothing something

Its a bit like the question of sound.
If a sound is made but nobody hears it does the sound exist ??
In my opinion yes. Just because we do not recognise something for what it is or understand its function does not mean it doesn't exist.
Who is to say at what point the beginning, began. You can always argue that the beginning began before that which is recognised as the beginning.
It is all a matter of perception.
In my humble opinion.
In reponse to your further comment dti42 ...... I neither agree nor disagree which is why I stated that this is just my opinion.
Maybe it is better to have a reserved opinion. I admire your ability to not form an opinion which must take a lot of willpower. I try to form unbiased opinions and I suppose you could say they are reserved because I have been known to change my mind on many occasions when I feel that my opinion has been disproved.

"Nothing" has its beginnigng the very moment its counterpart is created which happens to be "something". So it does have a beginning. It has its end when that "something" is destroyed, creating a lack of that something which created that nothing. There still exists a void, thought it is not defined. So its specific nothing and just nothing. God is the only absolute really. Though I do believe anything is possible. Your argument may be wrong but the purpose of it isnt necesarily. The something that is nothing, is nothing.

Indeed its food for thought but with that in mind at some point there must have been nothing - even if we are made up from things in another dimension or another galaxy - call them what you like - when it comes down to it in the beginning was nothing xx

How would you define beginning and end? Presumably the only beginnings and endings that humans can conceive of are a result of consciousness. But consciousness is a result of our finite minds. Therefore, if 'nothing' is infinite, we cannot possibly conceive of it. If we cannot conceive of something, how can we apply human terms to it . . .
Also, was it Satre who said that about the abyss?

I'm replying to the only bit of the above that was actually a question, about the quotation.
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." (Friedrich Nietzsche.)

The something that is nothing? Time / Eternity. It is something that is always there, and yet it doesn't exist except as a concept or idea since no one has seen it or proved it exists.

This reminds me of Light and Darkness....they coexist...you can't have one without the other. When there is Light...it takes up the darkness...when there is darkness....does the light cease to exist...or is it just masked. If you stare into Darkness...you can eventually make out shapes and movement...so therefore...there is light within the darkness. If you stare into light.....you see darkness moving in the shadows.....
